Ironically I would consider Pi users' ventures into GPIO control to be the epitome of embedded systems use.Wrt GPIO, the primary customer for the kernel is companies developing embedded systems, not the hoard of Pi users.
That's just insulting. There is no evidence I can see that anyone here does believe the world should service them. All I see is opinion on something which has been built on shifting sand which seems entirely reasonable to me.While many of them think the world should service them, sadly that isn't the case.
The community here is as entitled as any other to express its views and opinions, whether positive or negative, or simply as commentary or personal thought, in any way it pleases provided it fits within forum rules. So if any of you out there want something from the kernel developers then try opening a dialogue rather than shouting into the void. The goes for Pi engineers too.
If people want to shout into the void that's fine by me but I don't see any shouting in this thread, merely lament at what they found during their adventure into the ever evolving world of libgpiod.
And, at the end of the proverbial day, it was no more than a "ho hum, things have changed" comment. You were the one who chose to see that as some sort of "us and them" culture war.
