The correct commands are "sudo apt update" which downloads package information from all configured sources and "sudo apt full-upgrade" which installs available upgrades of all packages currently installed on the system from the sources configured via sources.list.OK strange.
i have rpimonitor installed since the beginning, and yesterday, i saw that it said there were several updates on the raspberry pi (i had done a full suite of updates when i first set it up a couple of days ago, so i was surprised there were more updates). So i did the updates, and so far 22 hours later, there has not been ANY usb disk disconnects. dmesg log is totally clean, and everything seems to be running fine. I did not add any software other than doing the sudo apt-updates yesterday and then rebooting the pi5... I wonder if something was fixed?
