Lets get some debug information.Since i got my pi4b 8gb (soon after they were released), it has always randomly selected one of the two HDMI ports to output on each time i boot it. There seems to be neither rhyme nor reason as to which one is selects. It's not tragic, but it is mildly annoying that i have to switch the HDMI plug to the other port half of the time that it's rebooted.
Connect to first hdmi port (closest to power connection) and boot with just the display connected (no sdcard).
What does the "DISPLAY:" line report in the diagnostic screen?
Next, boot normally, and run "raspinfo | pastebinit" (e.g. connecting through ssh, and report the url returned).
Do this once when display is working as expected and once when it is not working. We'll see what the difference is.
