I'm upgrading my home automation system from a Pi 3B to a Pi 5 with an nvme SSD (256GB).
Current software is mostly node-red, with an external USB drive hosting a MySQL database. The upgrade will start out with the same software plus Home Assistant (in docker), and maybe camera feeds in the future.
Hoping to harness the increased Processor speed with the SSD, especially for database access and visualization.
Question: Would you just use the new SSD for everything, scrapping the SD, or still boot from one and use the other for data/backup?
