Hello,
I'm using my shinny new Raspberry Pi 5 with Raspberry Pi OS lite (then installed Gnome etc....) and it is really REALLY good.
HOW can I install a more current version of Cura (5.x.x)? The 4.13.x version supplied by Raspberry Pi's repo is very buggy (top menu's are oddly placed, even right clicking makes the menu come up random places, and sometimes you can't get to it before it closes, then it will not re-open until you restart Cura. It is what I currently use, but it is a sketchy process (kind of like dating a bi-polar person).
I've tried the Appimage but it doesn't start, and I've tried to follow the github but Raspberry Pi OS is lacking some specific things needed (I can't remember exactly, but I "think" it was missing the right 'ninja', or python, or something). I chased some of the dependency issues, but came up short.
I have also used PrusaSlicer (works better but I don't get the same results as I do from Cura).
Looking for help and ideas ~me
Referring to https://ultimaker.com/software/ultimake ... #downloads
The Linux appimage is in a file named UltiMaker-Cura-5.6.0-linux-X64.AppImage
The 'x64' in there is a pretty good indicator that it is intended for 'PC' hardware with a 'WinTel' processor chip. It is almost certainly not appropriate for your arm-based RPi board.
I suggest asking Ultimaker for help with their software.
There are some links at the foot of this linked page that might help -
Ultimaker Cura 5 does not install, start or crashes on Linux - https://support.ultimaker.com/s/article/1667417416408
My attempts to install from source using the documentation in the Ultimaker Github Wiki terminated at
Code:
ERROR: libtool/2.4.7 require 'automake/<host_version>': didn't find a matching host dependency
I don't have any interest in this software so did not spend any more time trying to make progress.
Good luck...
