the OS is just the recommended one in the installerMaybe fill in the gaps in the story...
What is the Operating System that you are installing on the bootable medium for your RPi02W?
Do you have a directly-connected screen and keyboard so that you can do Troubleshooting on the RPi02W, or is this an attempted first-time 'headless' installation?
What is the nature of the Local Area Network shared by your 'workstation' and the RPi? Presumably you believe the RPi02W is establishing a WiFi association with an AP/hotspot on your LAN? How is the workstation connected?
How long have you waited after the initial boot up before trying to make a connection? There is a lot of setup to be done and an RPiZero2W is relatively slow. Several minutes might be needed.
no i dont have a display and keyboard, that is exactly why i am trying to access it this way
the pi and my pc are both connected to the same wifi. it is clearly connected since i am able to find its ip using nmap. my pc is connected via a usb wifi adapter
i waited quite a while and tried multiple times, certainly more than a few minutes
