Yes that or similar would also be my comment, actually vanilla Debian Bookworm includes an RT kernel via apt already, so if you run vanilla Debian Bookworm (or Testing//Trixie/Sid) on your Pi3/Pi4, it was already possible for more then a year out-of the box (no kernel compile needed), maybe also in Bullseye but that needs complicated reverts in RPiOS w.r.t. boot files/mounts.There is great news: starting with the recently available kernel 6.12, the RT-patch is rolled into the mainstream codeline, so no need for an additional patch and you can just go ahead and select RT directly in menuconfig out of the box!
