No i haven't tried it. I'm assuming that as you are suggesting it then it does actually enable the Zero 2 to become a reliable BLE peripheral ?

Have you tried my Bluetooth C and Python library:

The btferret command line option to start an LE server prompts for LE security settings such as bonding. Or, if writing your own code (start with le_server.c/py) security is set by calling le_pair before le_server (section 3.7.3 in the documentation).
