Troubleshooting • Re: Raspberry Pi 5 WiFi Issues

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 5, and I've set it up to use WiFi.
In the beginning it worked fine, but now it seems to randomly disconnects from WiFi for no apparent reason.
It's located really close to router, so signal strength should not be an issue.
One thing to note, is that I've installed official active cooler (if that makes any difference)
Also, the thing I noticed is that one I plug the ethernet cable to it, the WiFi starts working again.
I've tried several thing that I found on this forum, disabling WiFi power saving, updating the firmware to the latest version, but nothing seems to work.
Does someone else have the same issue, and perhaps found a solution?
A few things to check

1. Are you using a metal case?

2. Is there a lot of wireless traffic? BT, Wirelss Mice/keyboards, baby alarms etc etc

3. How busy is the Wifi channel that you are using?

4. How far are you from the router?

6. Is this the intenal WiFi adapter or an external one

7. Are you using Raspberyy PI OS Bookworm or something else?

8. I the software up to date?
