Raspberry Pi OS • Re: Autohide Taskbar

Hi, anyone know how to make Autohide Taskbar functioning again?
Thank you in advance.

The workaround with wayfire per below is no longer working.

Code:

autohide=trueautohide_duration=300layer=top
The relevant messages to cause hide and show of the taskbar do not seem to be generated under labwc. I've no idea at the moment if this is fixable - I will look into it when I get a chance. We've never actually supported autohide of the taskbar, which is why there was no switch in the GUI to enable it - I can't guarantee this will work on labwc, but I will have a look.

Edit - having now looked at this, autohide on wayfire relied on some custom protocol messages that were specific to wayfire; these are not generated at all in labwc, and it is not obvious how to replace them. This will be non-trivial to fix, if we fix it at all, so for the time being assume it isn't going to work.
While this does not currently impact me, since I have reverted to X11 due to some other unhappiness with Wayfire, I do take issue with the statement "We've never actually supported autohide of the taskbar". It is supported functionality of Wayfire, so is a regression in LABWC. I have always used autohiding taskbars, and was one of the folks that figured it out when Wayfire was released for RPiOS. If it not going to be supported in LABWC, it is basically a showstopper for me.
