- According to me, it is not related to the x1005 board, but a bad thermal management by kernel [3], Raspberry PI os, or both.

Don't rule out a drive firmware issue. Modern drives, whether SSD* or HDD** are not dumb devices. Don't rule out power issues either. NVMe drives can be quite power hungry so you may need additional power to run both.

*: Solid State Drive. I.E. NVMe flash drives, SATA flash drives, USB flash drives, etc.
**: Hard Disc Drives. I.E. 2.5" and 3.5" (and other sizes) drives that use rotating platters coated with rust. AFAIK there are no M.2 HDDs and certainly no NVMe ones. Use of accurate terminology matters.
