Maintain a set of note on commands that you need occasionally, but don't remember the details. If you use them enough, you'll remember how. There are also the man pages (try "man man") and other embedded help. Some things just work better in a CLI than in a GUI, so force fitting everything to use a GUI is counterproductive.
I don't understand what you're saying. Is there a simple and easy to use snipping tool, or do I have to go back to windows? What would be the command line to use to invoke the one I might have installed. (If it was just called "snip" or "snipping tool" it might be easier to remember. It's probably named something like "curlie cue" though.)

Ah, it was called Grim or Gripe or Slurp or something. What would be the command line to invoke it? I've tried sudo apt grim, but that got nowhere. Grim isn't very intuitive for a snipping too, btw. Or maybe it is.
grim, "by default" is a "full screenshot" tool (and is/can sometimes be associated with "PrtScn"/"Print Screen" key on a keyboard). slurp modifies things such that a partial screenshot (ie. a "snip") is taken instead. IIRC several approaches have been suggested in other threads on how to perform such an association with a suitable combination of grim and slurp. However I have found that approach to be somewhat depend upon the keyboard in use. Hence my current approach is a simple bash alias which I run from a small "terminal window" to the side of any area I wish to "snip" - the snip is, by default, saved to (IIRC) the "Pictures" folder with the default grim naming etc. FWIW the grim/slurp use can be seen in the screenshot above this one: http://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi ... _on_the_P5
