Correct, but if OP can't find an old serial modem the product I linked to has a USB interface. It might work ok on a Pi, but not so well on a Pico.Any modem with a serial port will interface with a Pico - they normally adjust to any standard baud rate, so speed isn't a problem. Then its "just" a matter of sending the right commands.If you can't find an old modem you can buy a "new" one:

Not sure how well they'll work with a Pi, probably not at all with a Pico.
