I am near the end of developing a respin based on our MX RPi release of a few months ago that will use a much-updated Openbox as WM. I've been developing it on the Pi 5 so wanted to test it on a 4B but the only one I have is now attached to the TD2. Since I have it rigged, as I did the former Official Display, with an external SD card connector (pic below) it's easy to switch OS.
Question 1: I have tried before and every time the respin refuses to boot even after a number of minutes, though it boots without problem on the Pi 3 B and the Pi 5. On a whim this time, I inserted the current RPi OS after yet another failure and it did boot after a somewhat lengthy delay. Then I removed it and put my respin back in, and it booted quickly. Is this expected behavior?
Question 2: on the TD 2 booting into the RPi OS I can get a right-click response on the desktop with a long press followed by a drag to create a box. Nothing like that happens on my respin yet it's particularly important in this case b/c access to the root menu is via the right click. Is there some software or system setting that i need to get that same behavior? It has all the latest RPi updates FWIW.
