Beginners • Changing Pi City/Country Setting from Script

Hello,

Background
When initializing a pi, a user can select a county/city from a dropdown menu. This has two primary functions of setting the users time zone (clock time from UTC), and also identifying any locational time variations, such as if the city uses daylight savings time.

Question
Can these settings be easily changed, via a script command, once the pi is set up?

Based on what I described above, simply changing the time zone, is not sufficient to clearly define all time parameters. Thus I imagine one would have to explicitly define a new country and city (one of the predefined cities that is) for the pi to use.

My goal is to incorporate this into a GUI I am making, so the user can make the change while performing other functions in that same GUI. I'm guessing, if my above statements are correct, I will need to create one or two entry boxes for the new country and city to be entered, for which the program can use to initiate the change.

For reference: I am using the Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit Debian Bookworm/Raspberry Pi Desktop (currently up to date) on an a raspberry pi 5.

Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions!
