Beginners • Re: Raspberry Pi 5 came with no SD card

Alas, two new issues have arisen:

1.) I purchased a SmartQ card reader from Amazon, as well as a SSD 256GB NVMe card from Pi Shop. However, when I inserted the card into the reader and the reader into my Windows 10 PC, the PC couldn't see the card. I inserted some other cards into the reader and rebooted the PC a few times, but the reader couldn't see them, either. Does this mean that the reader is defective?

2.) When I went to download the Raspberri Pi Imager, and clicked on the "Storage" command, a blank white box popped up. So, the imager couldn't see the card, either.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks again,

It sounds like you have the right idea.

The Pi branded SD cards are good so that should work well once you get the image flashed.

Since the SD card reader is not working with any cards I think something is wrong. It could be a bad cable or bad reader but you might try plugging it in to a different USB port on your Windows PC before returning it.
