Ubuntu is based on Debian, the same with Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm)Hoping someone can help me identify the OS i installed, so i got a pi 5 last year, installed an OS from the installer as usual only, now i need to tell what OS it actually was. Sounds odd but im racking the brain to figure out how to reinstall the exact same one as the kernel has what i need for some drives. So when i login to the device it simply shows
"6.6.62+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.62-1+rpt1 (2024-11-25) aarch64
The programs included with the Debian GNU/Linux system are free software;
the exact distribution terms for each program are described in the
individual files in /usr/share/doc/*/copyright.
Debian GNU/Linux comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY, to the extent
permitted by applicable law."
and the os-release shows
"PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)"
NAME="Debian GNU/Linux"
VERSION_ID="12"
VERSION="12 (bookworm)"
VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm
ID=debian
HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/"
SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support"
BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"
i thought maybe ubuntu but that clearly shows ubuntu on login, raspberry pi shows raspbian on login so i am a little stumped, also looked on debian site but that one doesnt show an image supporting the 5 so... what exactly did i install.
The only thing that Ubuntu hasn't got that the Raspberry Pi has, is the ability to control the GPIO pins (and a lot more)
You could use the same bash statements (in the terminal) as you can for Ubuntu
