Apparently that's been removed so I won't repeat my sentiments but update the reply I had made ...Really ?Oh do grow up.
Where did I say that ?So you never used a serial terminal on Windows ?
What I said, and standby, is that it is far easier to get a user to drag and drop a file using File Explorer than get them to use serial, have them install the program they need to use serial, tell them where to get it from, explain how to use that, explain how to install drivers if their system asks for those, explain how to identify which COM port to use, have to deal with all the things which go along with that.
Drag and drop is easy, most users will have done it, and it can be simply and easily explained. Confront a user with a complicated pop-up dialogue and they'll be wondering what needs to be entered in presented fields, which options they need to select, which 'send' button to use.
But what exactly are you showing me ?No problem, let me show you, right here, right now.
That serial transfer is possible ?
I know that. As I said I have implemented XMODEM and Kermit, both as MS-DOS utilities and Windows applications and, of course, on the devices which I was controlling.
