I don't want to criticise BBC Basic or Richard Russell's efforts, and am not saying it should not be used, but I consider other Basic variants to be better depending on what you desire and want to do.
Please expand on that. What specific features do you feel other BASICs offer that BBC BASIC (in its modern form) does not?
One respect in which I think BBC BASIC is unrivalled is the degree of cross-platform compatibility it offers, particularly of features like 3D graphics, shader programming, physics simulations and sound/music. No other BASIC comes close, and even Python cannot match it (for example running a Python program in a browser still has limitations).
