unfortunately the story of raspberry pi 5 being able to run ps2 games isn't great mostly because there aren't any viable emulators that target arm still being developed.... Even if there were, the ps2 is on the edge of what a raspberry pi 5 can handle.
I hate making the suggestion to use a mini-pc in a raspberry pi focused forum, but in this case I think that would be the better bet. I'm not sure the best way to interface the drive with the computer, (I would assume getting a drive that would interface through usb would be the way to go)...
