So regardless of whether the drive holds any volume information lspci should be able to see it?
Check flatcables etc, more I don't know, I don't have a Pi5. I have Samsung NVMe's in other ARM SBCs, but I also think the Crucial is one that should work.
I'd also try manually enabling PCIe in config.txt and if that doesn't help try updating the bootloader. No, not with rpi-update follow the official documentation.

And if all else fails try asking Argon One for support. It's their product so they should know more about ti than we do.
