You say you don't want to buy a unit but some elderly relatives of mine use the BT 4600 cordless phone for exactly this purpose. If the call is on the allowed contact list it just rings straight through and there's no need for your mother to click anything. My dad has one on Virgin Media broadband line (ie traditional landline phone plugs into phone socket on router) and it works fine. However Virgin sent him a new Superhub 5 and the phone no longer rang. Turns out that is a known problem and Virgin downgraded him back to a Superhub 4 when I got in touch and complained. The Superhub 5 issue may be fixed by now.We have Virgin Media for our Landline is a there a way to build a whitelist that will automatcally block any incoming calls except from a specified set of numbers in the whitelist it'll be around 10 numbers or less.
It's only a back up phone for my elderly mother, but we get plagued with spam calls. Yes I know i could buy one of those spam call blocker units mum wouldn't remember to click it and get confused, just want something to handle it automatcally, as it is only a back up in case she loses her mobile phone or it's not working for whatever reason. Virgin offers a paid service which I am trying to avoid.
Is there anything that I could do that is simple to set up?
