don't know why waveshare always makes it so complicated for their User to use their products.
instead of providing precompiled modules - which may work on a dedicated kernel but fail on later revisions - they should provide the source code (as per Linux license btw.) or make use of overlays which are in trennt.
for DPI there is kms-dpi-generic-overlay since years!
