I am considering adding an HDMI to RGB 24-bit parallel conversion IC to a Raspberry Pi to connect a display.
In doing so, I was thinking of editing the config.txt file to accommodate various types of displays.
In such a use case, would the timing parameters still not be considered?
you should add an EDID EEPROM to your custom HW which holds the panel timing parameters.
or, you need to use an EDID file and load them via kernel command line.
first approach is preferred as that's what an HDMI compliant HW would do.
