You will need up to date firmware but to the end user, that's invisible.The D1 stepping was initially launched with the 2GB and 16GB Pi 5, has that stepping made it's way across to the 4/8GB models yet? how when purchasing a Pi 5 of those models can you know which stepping you are receiving?
Jeff's findings on his blog do show some beneficial differences, has this been changed with newer firmware / software updates in recent times? or still applicable?
