Not expected by me. I suspect something went wrong with generating the initramfs.Is this difference (4,323,782 bytes smaller initramfs) when built locally to be expected at this point?
PREEMPT kernels built locally using bcm2711_defconfig do not end up having a smaller than expected initramfs.
It should be possible to view the contents. The two obvious causes are:
1) some modules are missing in the smaller initramfs
2) modules are compressed in the initramfs in the smaller case and non-compressed in the larger case.
It should be possible to identify which is the case.
