We measured the voltages and amps coming off the hat. With 5 V coming into the hat, at each pin, the output measured voltages are all less than 5 mV, while the amps register 0.
We bought the power supplies direct from Adafruit, together with the Pis. We had the version 1.4 set up at the monitor together with its original power supply. It was running fine.
Then we simply swapped out that board with the version 1.5s at the same monitor with the same power supply that had been running the 1.4 board. And the 1.5s toasted.
We checked the power supplies that shipped with the 1.4s. The output specs on those power supplies are identical to the one we had been using for the 1.5. The 1.4 runs fine with either its old power supply or the new ones that came with the 1.5s.
