But I just have a question...If it's so hard to solder one of these onto my board, then can I use a extension board to make up for the missing USB ports? I don't have a single idea what an extension board is but I presume it's to extend the Pi's functionality so I'd presume that if I added something like this: https://www.amazon.com/USB-HUB-HAT-Boar ... B07X1BH5FN space waves onto my Pi, it would gain more USB ports?

Not when the existing USB ports aren't working you can't. Which is the whole point of the OP.
