That overlay, like all the Pi 5 MIDI UART overlays, is broken in a subtle way - although the clock divisors are set up correctly, it doesn't enable the source UART clock, so you don't get any output (or input).

I've reworked the midi-uartn-pi5 overlays to use a fixed-factor clock and submitted them in a GitHub pull request (https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/pull/6743). If you wait about 40 minutes you should be able to install a trial build of the latest 6.12 kernel, along with the updated overlays, by running:

Code:

$ sudo rpi-update pulls/6743
Be careful to back up any important data first.

On Bullseye Pi4B it ends in an error,

Invalid artifact specified, 404...

Does this pulls works with pi4B and Pi5B independently if they are on Bullseye or Bookworm, they have been tested
on only the latest Pi5 only with bookworm... what is the situation?
I installed this update on my Pi5 and it wasn't working.
I still need to try on the Pi4B.
I have now both a PI4B and Pi5B both with either Bullseye or Bookworm.
I'm installing only ttymidi, from idrolez, (he said last time that he has updated the midi-uart-pi5 overlay too in its repo) and that's it, but I can't get it's Slim Midi hat nor reading nor writing any Midi info
on the Uart of both Pi's, on both Pi OS's.. We are pretty stuck. Tnx.
