I found this vey nice MAX7219 code and want to use it on a frequency counter.

Just an observation that this code has not been tested on a RP PICO "I have tested it with both an ESP8266 and a ESP32, running micropython version 1.19.1." You may find some subtle changes may need to be made for the PICO. You may want to look for examples of running the MAX7219 on a PICO like this https://www.instructables.com/Raspberry ... Scrolling/
