Beginners • Re: Help with soldering composite pins on Pi 5B

Don't solder wires directly -- they will fatigue and fall off (my attempts usually do, anyway). Instead, attach a 2x1 header for VID and use Dupont leads. I would (and indeed have done) use a bit of stripboard and header for the socket as well to stop it breaking.

For audio, a USB-to-headphones or USB-to-RCA DAC dongle is generally recommended; they are cheap and easily available.

Alternatively, PWM audio is available from the GPIO header (enable it with dtoverlay=audremap) but you will need to build a buffer and filter circuit. You can omit the buffer if you don't care too much about noise but don't omit the DC blocking capacitor and an RC filter to remove frequencies above 20kHz (as well as to limit the current in case of short circuit).
Hello, if I understood correctly I think you're telling me to use the pins on top of the board? Could you please let me know what pins I would attach the header to?
