Raspberry Pi OS • Re: Is There an Easy Way to Update SSD Systems to Latest Bookworm?

Is it likely that having just gone through the massive change transitioning to Bookworm can we expect a simple transition to the next OS iteration thereby enabling easy upgrades to new and future versions of the OS and making SSDs finally useful?
Not sure about 'simple' transition, but because of viewtopic.php?t=389477 , then possibly yes. Raspberry pi may not have meant it, but they cannot now say you cannot upgrade Raspberry pi OS in place, because upgrading Bookworm to Trixie just works, well at least it has for myself, five times on an Rpi3b, two Rpi4's, a CM4 and an Rpi5.
Yes and no! :) The documented upgrade pathway does indeed work, in terms of leaving you with a working system running Trixie, but any venvs you are using need the same level of rebuilding that they would have if you had created a new installation from scratch. Since, if you take the new python rules seriously, most significant user-written programs will be running in venvs, you don't gain much from the ability to upgrade the OS, and starting from scratch with a new installation remains the safest approach.
