Troubleshooting • Re: RPI doesn't boot up, only solid red light

So, when you remove the SD card, and power up, what do you get?
Nothing, as I already said.
My procedure: I take the RPi > I connect the HDMI cable to the monitor and the RPi > I disconnect the MicroSD and everything else > I connect the power supply, thereby starting the RPi (I tried pressing the power button too; it seems that it is not possible to turn off the RPi using the button, only by connecting/disconnecting power supply) = The light immediately turns red (no green light blinking, nothing) and stays that way until it is turned off, the monitor remains black and indicates no signal (as it did before turning on the RPi). However, I noticed that if I manually try to connect to the HDMI port on the monitor when the RPi is connected (via the monitor's built-in menu), the connection attempt takes longer if nothing is connected to that port (perhaps the monitor "feels" the connection but cannot connect?).

In similar threads over the last 2 years, when Raspberry Pi staff have offered an opinion it has been to confirm that following my checklist of 3 possibilities means that if the display and power supply and their cabling are proven to be working then the final conclusion has to be the unfortunate truth...
This diagnostic does not seem to depend on any prior configuration. It should always produce an information display.

Failure seems to leave a small set of possibilities -

Faulty or failing TV/monitor/display and/or connecting cables;

Faulty or failing Power Supply and/or connecting cables;

Faulty or failing RPi[5] board.
