Beta testing • Re: Updating to trixie

I tried using some labwc-related config files in trixie that had been generated under bookworm. They worked the same as before, except for wf-panel-pi.ini. First, I had to move it one level deeper, to ~/.config/wf-panel-pi/wf-panel-pi.ini from ~/.config/wf-panel-pi.ini. I also encountered some oddness related to launchers, which is the real focus of this post.

When I moved this former bookworm wf-panel-pi.ini file to the right spot, the three initially defined numbered launchers appeared at the left of the taskbar, but not the fourth one (for the app pwsafe). (Yes, it's odd how they're separated, but yes, that's just how it used to be, and it worked that way in bookworm:

Code:

[panel]launcher_000001=lxde-x-www-browser.desktoplauncher_000002=pcmanfm.desktoplauncher_000003=lxterminal.desktopwidgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu launcher_000004=pwsafe.desktopcputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90

Moving the fourth item DIDN'T make it appear:

Code:

[panel]launcher_000001=lxde-x-www-browser.desktoplauncher_000002=pcmanfm.desktoplauncher_000003=lxterminal.desktoplauncher_000004=pwsafe.desktopwidgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu cputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90
I just took it out:

Code:

[panel]launcher_000001=lxde-x-www-browser.desktoplauncher_000002=pcmanfm.desktoplauncher_000003=lxterminal.desktopwidgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu cputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90
I added pwsafe the gui way - click till I see pwsafe in the menu tree, right click, hit add launcher, and the icon appears and I get this result, with a new line at the bottom listing the desired launchers:

Code:

[panel]launcher_000001=lxde-x-www-browser.desktoplauncher_000002=pcmanfm.desktoplauncher_000003=lxterminal.desktopwidgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu cputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90launchers=pwsafe x-www-browser pcmanfm x-terminal-emulator
Fine, it seems some code now likes things in a list instead of a bunch of numbered items. But why did the first three icons actually appear before, when there wasn't yet a list? And why did somebody leave the numbered items there, after adding a list?

Code:

[panel]launcher_000001=lxde-x-www-browser.desktoplauncher_000002=pcmanfm.desktoplauncher_000003=lxterminal.desktopwidgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu cputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90launchers=pwsafe x-www-browser pcmanfm x-terminal-emulator
Now, I really want to have pwsafe at the end, so I can just reorder the list, and I can take out the numbered items entirely, and move the list to the top because it just seems to make more sense that way:

Code:

[panel]launchers=x-www-browser pcmanfm x-terminal-emulator pwsafe widgets_left=smenu spacing4 launchers spacing8 window-list widgets_right=tray power connect ejecter updater spacing2 bluetooth spacing2 netman spacing2 volumepulse spacing2 clock spacing2 batt spacing2 cputemp cpu cputemp_low_temp=40cputemp_high_temp=90
and all's well...
But if someone in the know would like to comment or explain this, that would be great.
