Looking this over I'm thinking I will ditch the micro card and use a USB 3.2 Gen2 for the boot, and the NVMe base for storage. It looks like I'm getting the hardware lined out for this.

Moving right along, based on my use case, what software should I be using? I don't need all the bells and whistles, just some fast, cut down OS that will run a jukebox program like Volumio and perhaps a backup camera interface. Not even any sort of wireless service; I can install a USB service port to plug in a keyboard in the rare event I should need one. The only other thing I might want are front and rear recording cameras, but I've not decided on that yet. I may just give those a miss. Even the backup camera is not particularly important as I can use a rear view mirror for the screen.

I also need to figure out power. Power will come from switched power, so when the key is off the unit will see 0W until I turn the key on again. I can put a power filter on the input to keep it from slamming irregular voltage at it, and to keep the input clean when running. Any recommendations on a stable power supply that will run it all? I'd rather have a quality unit with some available overhead in the power supply too, not looking for something cheap that just barely meets specs. Whatever OS is used will need to be able to start the boot as soon as it sees power too. It would also need to be direct wire, no cigarette lighter plugs.
