But I know that with the 4,5 and 02W the design has switched to using new Raspberry Pi designed silicon rather than Broadcom based chips.

This doesn't answer your library question but...

Your knowledge is incorrect.

The 4B (plus CM4 and 400) uses a Broadcom 2711 SoC. IIRC there is no RPL designed silicon present.

The Pi5 (plus CM5 and 500[+]) uses a Broadcom 2712 SoC combined with an RPL designed RP1 "southbridge".

The zero2W uses an RPL designed package that contains RAM and the same Broadcom SoC as used on the 3B+.

So, at a guess:
  • If your chosen library works on a 3B+ there's a good chance it will work on a zero2W
  • It might work on a 4B
  • It probably won't work on a Pi5 without major updates.
The above assumes that the library has been updated for the 4B and zero2W. If it hasn't, all bets are off.

The best place to get a definitive answer? The developer/maintainer of the library.
