Something like that. BirdNetPi suggests that if you're using a USB DAC for audio capture, a USB extension cable to get the DAC far away from the Raspberry Pi helps. It's not a perfect solution, but at least it made my $3 USB sound card + $2 desktop microphone into a mostly useful bird monitoring station. Without it, my DAC was all noise.the only problem i can see, is that a USB DAC will be outputing analog relative to the noisy gnd
the usb will carry a perfect digital signal up to the DAC, but then the DAC output will be noisy
