Updating Anthias content is just done via the URL which it essentially displays. We'd change the URL content rather than anything else. It's effectively used as a full screen web browser at the moment. Regarding the SSD comment, that was my suggestion, and we've done so at a few sites and of course, they are much more reliable.
Overlayfs was suggested because it's free, we don't need to pay for the SSD kit, and essentially it will last as long as the Pi as it writes everything to RAM rather than writing to the Micro SD card.
I did actually try it, and I couldn't get it to work with overlayfs enabled, just had black screens.
