Using the python script you create a json file that pi-imager will use to apply customisations to downloaded official PiOS images
If you have a download of the 2025-10-02 Trixie image for example it appears you need to manually create the local JSON file.
My own equivalent utility uses OS information other than the on-line JSON file and seems to work, identifies all Raspberry Pi OS images released and appears to specify customisation mechanism and options correctly for each.
