My tests of metal cases and big one piece heatsinks showed WiFi failure. WiFi worked when near the router and or with the case is facing the right way but not when I moved the Pi to the location for normal use. For my use, a bunch of copper heatsinks, one per chip, and an open case work as well as the official cooler and the best all metal case plus left the WiFi working at full range.

I run stuff that is compute intensive for a minute or less and may run the workload repeatedly but not continuously. No overheating. The copper absorbs the peak heat and dumps it before the next peak.

It would be different if I ran one of my heavier workloads lasting over an hour. I would need a good fan. Noctua sell a 40mm 5 volt PWM fan ideal for the task and an excellent fit for my open case.

The Pi 5 official fan/heatsink combination is somewhere in the middle and works for many tasks. I find those tiny fast fans whine at a frequency really annoying to me.
