Hello all. First Raspberry PI, so be gentle.

I did search the FAQ, and could not see a fix that related to the Zero W. Apologies if I missed it.

Outline. Raspberry Pi Zero W. Micro USB from the USB micro port (not the power USB nearest the end) and this is connected to a powered USB hub.
Boots fine.
But, keyboard and mouse don't work at all. Tried various leads, 3x different powered hubs and various mice and keyboards.

The caps lock etc don't work (but do on other computers) so, it's clearly a Pi issue.

I downloaded the Windows imager here:

https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/

Got the 32 bit version (no 64 bit?). Loaded that to microSD card and that does boot fine.

So what am I missing? I only have the Windows PC to edit/load with and therefore cannot 'edit' the files on the SD card.
Do I need specific software on my Windows PC to allow me to change something on the SD card?

Seems a bit odd that it doesn't include a default keyboard and mouse driver.... or, I am messing something up.
I don't think I am however.

Thank you
Apologies if this insults your intelligence but ...

How are you connecting the hub to the ZeroW? USB is not a peer to peer system. If using only a standard cable with USB A plug (full size, "flat" one) on one end and and micro-USB on the other, that will never work. Most hubs have one square (with two rounded corners) socket. The ZeroW must connect to that.
