Thanks! This worked.Easiest way is to cut the end off a good quality USB-C cable and power the Pi via its USB-C port.
The wire in the usb-c cable seems even thinner than those of the "DuPoint" connectors, so I left the GPIO leads connected as well. Will do some more testing later, but at least progress is being made.
