We are happy with the packaging. The cardboard box provides enough protection during transit, and there is an anti-static insert in the box instead of the often used plastic bag. I am not aware of any devices that have been damaged by inadequate packaging . Bad handling yes, but not packaging.
As I stated above, providing the board was manufactured OK, then the packaging is fine. I suspect in this case there was a soldering issue during manufacture, undetected on the line, that was brought to light during transit. That would likely have happened irrespective of the packaging.
