I use Pi400s ...which are essentially the same as the 4 with 4GB as daily desktops.
I found them to be quite fine.
Will it be ultimately as fast as a high spec intel box which cost an order of magnitude more...No; of course not. Will it work adequately for most desktop need. Yes.
Make sure that you buy a decent sized QUALITY SD card. I mostly use the Samsung evo cards and find that 64GB is a good sweet spot between price and size,. Others will no doubt prefer others.![:roll:]( "Rolling Eyes")
Also...I find that Chromium generally feels faster on the Pi than Firefox...Though it's less noticeable on the PI5.
