You don't need 5A if you just use a Pi5 with SD-card and/or ethernet cable. So that it will run from any standard USB-C PD PSU that does 5V 3A.Does anyone know of a battery bank that will power a Raspberry Pi 5?
Also is there any way to request that future RPIs support USB-PD so any USB-C power source would work? I'm finding it near impossible to find a 5v 5amp power supply outside of the official Raspberry Pi one. Every thing on the market uses something with higher voltage.
But I agree that this 5A at 5V is uncommon, so if you buy a Pi5, simply be aware that you need to think about the use-case and power-consumption.
If you want permanent battery powered, you need another approach and likely you come to the conclusion that you need something like is done for decades in mobile phones. So first look at the functionality and use case, then buy hardware. Not buy a Pi5 first and then come to the conclusion that is is not targeted for battery operation. It has no charger circuit etc, also no sleep and/or hibernate modes and so on that is normal for mobile phones, tablets and laptops.
