For "new to Linux" I would stick with the standard installtion tools to install things from the existing Debian/Pi repositories.
For "Bookworm" using the desktop that is Menu, Preferences, Add/Remove Software.
Also, the downloaded zip may not be for the Pi architecture (ARM) - check with the place you got it from - they may also have install instructions if you are lucky.
