Troubleshooting • Re: USB drives don't show up in file manager

How and where do you expect the USB drives to be mounted? One quick check is to build a standard RPiOS (with Desktop) install on a SD card and test using that. That system uses an automounter to mount inserted USB drives under /media. If that works you have an issue with your custom KDE install.

Another test would be to insert the USB drive and attempt to manually mount it somewhere else.

The fact that other USB devices work, suggests you have a software issue, rather than a hardware issue.

There really is no such thing as Raspbian. Are you using RPiOS Lite with KDE ontop, or RPiOS Desktop with KDE added, or something completely different.

It is possible you have stale mounts, such that the automounter is creating mount names that are different than you are expecting.
