I designed a product for work using a RasPI 3B+ which is rated for continuous operation at 50°C.

We did extensive testing up to 65°C ambient and now have over five years of products in the field with zero heat related problems. (note: all our products carry a 5 year parts and labor warranty so we would have heard about any failures with a few hundred shipped)

I did write a little temperature monitor systemd service that shuts down the system if the CPU temperature exceeds 85°C.

Paul, I'm going to test some ideas and I'm going to talk to a friend and he's an engineer and a thermodynamics specialist so we can try to do something that doesn't put the equipment at risk. After all, it's really hot in Brazil and anything that keeps giving problems in the field is terrible.

Developing a temperature monitor is really, really useful and you can do it using the OS itself. Great tip and very usefull to prevent a disaster!
