Not the Pi's fault if it is connected to a non-conformant (faulty or badly designed) power supply. Why should all Pi users bear the component cost of protection when the need for it is rare?
I would tend to generally agree; screw up and you have to bear the consequences.

But the real issue here is being able to get hold of spare parts so owners can attempt a repair when something untowards has happened.

No one IMO should have to landfill a Pi which can cost up to £115 purely for the sake of not being able to obtain a 50p component, and that equally applies to all other manufacturers and their products.

I believe manufacturers should embrace "right to repair", make all proprietary components available for one-off purchase at a reasonable cost, direct or via resellers, and there should be legislation to force that if they won't.

I find it rather ironic that manufacturers will on one hand loudly proclaim their green credentials, their commitment to sustainable solutions and "saving the planet", yet still force consumers to throw things away and buy a new one when they choose to prevent it being repaired.

Pi Hut and others do stock DA9090 so maybe they could also stock DA9091, even if you are forced to buy five when you only need one ?
