HDMI-A-1 is the one nearest the C connector. It would be very unlikely that you could have a problem with your lead/adaptor but what are you using? Try another?
You say its a 1080p monitor it would be surprising if it didn't work with:
video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60
followed by a space, at the front of /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt
if that doesn't work it might be worth trying.
video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@50
If not try
video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080@60D or video=HDMI-A-1:1920x1080M@60D etc.
If none of these works have a look at the monitor docs to confirm supported resolutions. If you cant find that, a lot of monitors have a settings screen entered with buttons that may tell you what it will support
